Question: Who all are eligible to participate in the DSCI Excellence Awards 2014?
Answer: There are fifteen categories in the corporate segment, while there are two categories in Awards for Law Enforcement Agencies. Corresponding eligibility criteria are mentioned against each category.
Question: Can winners/finalists of DSCI Excellence Award 2011/ 2012/ 2013 send in nominations again this year?
Answer: Yes, an organization or an individual can send the nominations again this year even if it won or was a finalist in the previous years. Only exception is the category of Emerging Information Security Product Company, whose winner is not allowed to nominate again for the same product.
Question: I cannot find the category for which I submitted the nomination previous year. Have the categories changed this year?
Answer: Yes, the categories have been revised this year. Few categories have been eliminated while few new categories have been added. We recommend that you take a few minutes to explore all the categories for this year in the category page.
Question: Are all the categories online?
Answer: All the categories in the corporate segment are online from this edition. For the LEA segment, nomination forms have to be filled and submitted over email
Question: What is the procedure to submit the nomination forms online?
Answer: Once the nomination window opens, DSCI will provide a link on its website where individuals can register themselves and select what all categories they want to apply for in Awards 2014. After submitting their interest, an e-mail will be sent on the e-mail id provided in the application form that would have guidelines to fill in the forms, along with an exclusive link for each category to fill the forms online. Each link will be exclusive for every nomination form.
Question: In how much time will I receive nomination e-mail? What if I don’t receive such e-mail in specified time limit?
Answer: The e-mail mentioning the exclusive link and guidelines for filling the nomination form for each category will be sent within 72 hours. If such e-mail is not received in 72 hours, nominator can reach us at email@example.com
Question: Can the questionnaire be downloaded and filled offline?
Answer: All the nominations in the corporate segment necessarily need to be submitted online. However if organizations require a word version of nomination forms to fill it internally before submitting final entry online, a word file of the nomination form can be requested by writing to firstname.lastname@example.org
Question: Do we need to fill the complete form in one go or we can fill it in shifts? What is the procedure to save information in incomplete nomination form and later, start from where it was left?
Answer: No, you need not to fill the complete form in one go. On clicking ‘Save and Continue’ at the bottom of the page, you can save your responses for later revisits and updation. But, please do not select the very last question of the survey where you need to confirm that you have completed the survey, else the survey will be submitted. On clicking ‘Save and Continue’, you will get incompletion alerts at the top of the page which you can ignore if you are performing intermediate saving of the nomination form. However, the survey responses till that time will be recorded.
Question: What will happen if we are unable to submit the filled nomination form in given time frame or before the deadline mentioned?
Answer: Though the information is not getting saved until and unless ‘Save and Continue’ tab is clicked by user, but in case you are not able to submit it before 7th October 2014 midnight, it will automatically be submitted with whatever information has been saved in it. Still, it is advised to ‘Save and Continue’ or ‘Submit’ it before the deadline. Further, if you don’t want to submit your incomplete form or wants to withdraw your nomination, you will have to write us an email on email@example.com
Question: Who all can access and change the information filled in the questionnaire?
Answer: Every nominator will get a unique link for the applied category. So, anyone with the URL would be able to see the contents and make modifications. Organizations and individuals are requested not to share the link with anyone else.
Question: What is the procedure of attaching the supporting documents for specific question(s)?
Answer: For some question, there would be a provision for attaching the required documents. There would be a browse button for allowing one to browse through their system and attach whatever file he/she wants. In some sections, there would be a link to upload more than one attachment.
Question: Is there any limit on number, file type, size, etc. of the attaching documents in the questionnaire?
Answer: For every section you would be allowed to attach specific number of files (in most of the cases it would be 5). The maximum size limit allowed for any file would be 16 MB. Also, the file types allowed would be pdf, doc.
Question: What is the procedure to verify the answers given by us?
Answer: Once the questionnaire is filled and submitted, a mail would be sent to the nominator mentioning all the text filled and submitted by him/her in the nomination forms.
Question: How significant is the word limit mentioned against each question? What if our answers stretch beyond prescribed word limit?
Answer: We request the respondents to limit their responses to the prescribed word limit. Keeping the answers succinct makes it easier for the evaluators. The evaluators reserve the right to discard any information that stretches beyond word limit.
Question: What is the type of questions asked in the questionnaire?
Answer: There would be both, objective as well as subjective questions.
Question: Do we need to answer each and every question in the questionnaire?
Answer: No question in the form would be mandatory to answer. The nominator has full right and choice to answer or not to answer any of the question. Though, during evaluation one can lose on some points if their competitor has given the answer to particular question and they have not! Some questions in the nomination forms might not carry any weightage and could be for informational purpose only.
Question: Are these awards open only for DSCI Corporate members?
Answer: The awards are open for all the organizations and individuals who are eligible to participate as per the eligibility criteria mentioned against each category. Organizations applying for the Awards in the corporate segment need to be DSCI Corporate Member.

Question: Is there any fee to send in nominations for the Awards?
Answer: Kindly note that there is no fee to apply for any category of the award.
Question: For how many categories can one organization send in nominations?
Answer: There is no restriction upfront. However, the categories are divided in such a manner that there cannot be more than five nominations (in different categories) from an organization
Question: What are the parameters on which questionnaire will be evaluated?
Answer: Each award category has different parameters for evaluation. These parameters will be used to shortlist the finalist and ultimately, to decide the winner. These parameters have been decided using prior experience and consultation. However, these will not be made public.
Question: When do the nominations close? And what if we want to nominate after the deadline?
Answer: The deadline to submit the nominations is 7th October 2014; based on the feedback received last year and being fair to organizations and individuals who submit nominations timely, no deadline extension will be made.
Question: In what different ways can nomination forms be submitted?
Answer: Nomination forms for corporate segment can only be submitted online on the link provided, whereas for LEA segment one will need to submit the duly filled nomination form through e-mail to email@example.com in either word or pdf formator send hard copies to DSCI address.
Question: I need to modify certain details that I had earlier submitted (or I have more details to add to the nomination which I had earlier submitted). Can I resubmit my nomination?
Answer: Resubmitting nominations online is not allowed. However, organizations can separately send updated information and artefacts via email to DSCI at firstname.lastname@example.org, while referencing the nominations submitted earlier. Individuals may resubmit their completely filled nomination forms by 7th October 2014
Question: Our nominations may contain some sensitive information. Are entry forms kept confidential?
Answer: Consolidation of all the nomination forms and other information received from various organizations will be done by DSCI Excellence Awards Process partner (PwC). Both DSCI and PwC shall take due care that the confidential information is shared only with the designated stakeholders for evaluation purposes only.
Question: How will the nominations be judged?
Answer: Nomination pre-screening will be done by DSCI and PwC to shortlist the finalists in each category after a due diligence. All the shortlisted nominations are required to appear for a Jury briefing meeting, to justify their case, and why they should win. An eminent jury panel will then decide the winners in each category.
Question: How do we know if our nomination gets shortlisted?
Answer: All the shortlisted organizations and individuals will be contacted and informed that their entries got shortlisted; relevant details would be shared thereof.
Question: When and where will the winners be announced?
Answer: Winners will be announced in NASSCOM-DSCI Annual Information Security Summit 2014 in December at Mumbai. All the shortlisted nominations will be sent an invite to represent their organization / represent themselves at the Awards Ceremony.
