Mr. Pramod Bhasin, Founder, Genpact |Chairman, CLIX Capital Services |Chairman, The Skills Academy |(Chair of Jury)

Pramod’s career spans an entrepreneurial and professional career across the globe in the US, UK and Asia. He has built global businesses in Financial Services, Business process Management and Skills Training. Pramod is the founder of Genpact starting in 1997 and considered the pioneer of the Business Process Management industry in India today, which employs over a million people in India. Under his leadership, Genpact has also been the pioneer of this industry in China, Eastern Europe and Latin America. Genpact is acknowledged today as the leader in its industry with over 65,000 employees across 17 countries and over $2b in revenues, and is a public company listed on NYSE. Pramod built the company from inception till 2011 when he stepped down as CEO.

Prior to Genpact, Pramod’s career with GE spanned 25 years across Europe, US and Asia. He started GE Capital’s initial operations in India as the CEO in 1994 and was also the President of GE Capital Asia from 1999. During this time, he was the architect of GE Capital’s businesses in Commercial and Consumer Finance and joint ventures with SBI in credit cards and HDFC in Consumer Finance. Prior to that he worked with GE Capital in Corporate Finance in New York and Stamford, CT., as well as with GE in London and New York.

Currently Pramod is focused on building “The Skills Academy” a scalable, high quality skills training business focused on enhancing employability for our youth at the grassroots level. The Skills Academy focuses on lower income youth and operates multiple training centres across Odisha, Bihar, UP, Rajasthan, MP, Maharashtra and other States, and has trained nearly 50,000 youth until now. He is also engaged in Social Impact Investing and Advocacy through Asha Impact, a “ virtual” fund in partnership with Vikram Gandhi, formerly of Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley. Pramod is also currently promoting a number of different companies in Analytics, Financial Services, and Housing Finance, as well as Healthcare and Education.

Pramod serves on the boards of NDTV, ICRIER, DLF Ltd and SRF Ltd, and is on the Governing Boards of IIM Lucknow, Shri Ram School, Help Age India and IFMR Rural Channels. He is also on the advisory Board of CISCO in India, and is also a Strategic Advisor to Private Equity firms, Kedaara in India and CVC in Asia. He also works with a number of NGOs focused on Eco-tourism and schooling for handicapped children.

Pramod has been the Chairman of NASSCOM and was voted IT Man of the Year. He is currently the President of TIE-NCR. Pramod is a UK Chartered Accountant and has a Bcom degree from Delhi University.

 

Ms. Harmeen Mehta, Global CIO & Head of Digital, Bharti Airtel

Harmeen Mehta is the Global Chief Information Officer and Head of Digital of Bharti Airtel Limited and as such is responsible for all of IT and Engineering across India, South Asia and 17 countries in Africa. Harmeen also leads the digitization agenda across Bharti Airtel.

Harmeen has over 20 years of experience in Technology with companies such as Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and HSBC. She also worked as a consultant to British Airways and Qantas. Harmeen has lived in 11 countries and worked across over 30 countries in all continents.

She has held various leadership positions such as Global Head of Corporate, Investment and Private Banking IT at HSBC Global Technology Centres, MD at Merrill Lynch India Technology Services across India, Singapore, Ireland and Canada, and as Asia CIO for Global Markets and Research technology at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. At BBVA, Harmeen was the CIO for Global Markets and Risk and Operations for Corporate and Investment Banking and led large-scale business and IT transformation programs across Europe, US and Latin America.

Harmeen is currently a member of the Cyber Security Taskforce at NASSCOM, India’s leading industry association for IT sector. She has been recognized by Economic Times as top 10 women in the telecom and tech industry across the globe. Under her leadership Airtel recently won the prestigious Global TM Forum digital award for Outstanding Contribution to Improved Business Agility Award.

 

Mr. Bishwanath Ghosh, CIO, Mahindra & Mahindra

Bishwanath joined Mahindra & Mahindra in 2008 as Vice President IT & Knowledge Management of Automotive Sector and then took charge as Vice President IT & KM of Auto & Farm Equipment Sectors in 2010, before moving to the present role of CIO-Corporate (Senior Vice President) in 2013.

He is a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur, moved to the field of Information Technology after spending initial few years in setting up manufacturing facilities for one of the largest Automobile manufacturer in India. He has significantly contributed to the organizations he has worked for, by applying Innovative & State-of-the-art Technology solutions for making the business processes efficient by several notches and delivering values that made significant strategic advantage for the organization. Some of the key contributions were in the areas of Manufacturing Execution systems, Centralized Dealer Management solution, Leveraging Internet for business.

He is particularly interested in creating solutions by coupling IT into Business models, weaving technology into business processes and leveraging networking technologies and Internet, creating business applications to enable strategic differentiation for the organization. Motivation lies in creating Customer facing systems for superior experience and delighting customers with technological intervention.

He received the ‘Best IT Driven Innovation in Automotive Business’ award by NASSCOM in Feb 2013 for 8 innovative projects for Auto & Farm Equipment Sectors of Mahindra.

He is interested in Reading, Music, Sports and long drives.

 

Mr. Paresh Sukthankar, Deputy Managing Director, HDFC Bank

Mr. Paresh Sukthankar is the Deputy Managing Director of HDFC Bank, India’s second-largest private bank. He has previously served as Executive Director in the bank, and was appointed as Deputy Managing Director by the Board of Directors at its meeting held in December 2013, subject to the approval of the Reserve Bank of India.

Mr. Sukthankar has been with HDFC Bank since its inception in 1994 and has played an integral role in shaping HDFC Bank into one of India’s leading financial institutions. He currently has direct or supervisory responsibilities for the Bank’s Credit and Risk Management, Finance and Human Resources functions and for various strategic initiatives of the Bank.

Prior to joining HDFC Bank, Mr. Sukthankar worked in Citibank for around 9 years, in various departments including corporate banking, risk management, financial control and credit administration.

Mr. Sukthankar has been a member of various Committees formed by Reserve Bank of India and Indian Banks’ Association.

He has done his Masters in Management Studies (MMS) from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute (Mumbai) and the Advanced Management Program (AMP) from the Harvard Business School.

 

Mr. Nandkumar Saravade, CEO, REBIT

Mr. Nandkumar Saravade is currently working as CEO, Reserve Bank Information Technology Pvt Ltd (ReBIT). ReBIT has been set up as a fully owned subsidiary of RBI for technology management and cyber security for RBI’s systems and the Indian banking sector.

Till recently, he worked as CEO, Data Security Council of India, a think-tank specialising in cyber security policy research and advocacy. During 2013-15, he was an independent security professional and cybercrime expert, advising Ernst & Young and ICICI Bank. Earlier, he worked as Director, Citibank India, heading Security, Investigation and Vigilance. During 2008-2011, he worked as General Manager, Financial Crime Prevention Group, ICICI Bank, where he looked after fraud risk assessment and controls reviews, application screening and vendor due diligence, transaction monitoring, investigations and regulatory reporting and compliance.

Till 2008, Mr. Saravade served with the Indian Police Service (IPS). His last assignment in the IPS was Director, Cyber Security and Compliance, NASSCOM, which involved policy formulation on cyber security and privacy, capacity building for law enforcement, advising NASSCOM members on incident response management and organising mass awareness campaigns on cyber security.

Mr Saravade served in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for seven years, looking after enforcement of the Prevention of Corruption Act, investigation of bank frauds and economic offences. Mr Saravade was the topper of the 1987 batch of the IPS and was presented the Prime Minister’s Baton and Revolver. He was awarded the Indian Police Medal for Distinguished Services in 2003.

He has served on several technical advisory bodies of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Cyber Security Project of Government of Maharashtra and Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) of Government of India. He is a regular speaker at apex training institutes, technical conferences and industry forums.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad as well as a Masters’ degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

 

Mr. Prakash Kumar, CEO, GSTN

Prakash Kumar is the first CEO of Goods and Services Tax Network. He worked as an officer of the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) from 1985 to 2008, where he handled varied portfolios including information technology, human resource management, public finance, corporate entities and industrial development amongst others. He has assumed various significant positions in the Government such as Secretary to State Government, Joint Secretary to the Government of India, Additional Commissioner of Sales Tax etc. For a year (2013-14) he worked as the National Technology Officer at Microsoft India. Prior to joining Microsoft, he headed Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG), the strategic consulting arm of Cisco for five years (2008-13).

Prakash holds a Master degree in Public Finance under the World Bank Scholarship from National Graduate Research Institute for Policy Studies, Japan and a Bachelor degree in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. He is a strong advocate of right to information, a topic on which he has authored three books. He wrote a fortnightly column for a leading publication on IT and RTI for a year.

Law Enforcement Segment

Law Enforcement Segment

  • To recognize and honour an Officer who has done the most outstanding investigation in solving a cyber crime
  • To recognize and honour a state police/police agency for efforts made in overall capacity building through workforce development, investigation & forensics capability development, skill enhancement through trainings & workshops etc.

Awards Process for LEA Segment

  • Consolidation of all the cases and other information received from various police organisations will be done by DSCI & process partner.
  • First level of screening will be done by DSCI and Process Partner to shortlist three finalists in each category.
  • Subsequent to short listing of finalists, the eminent jury panel will evaluate the finalists and decide the winner. The winners will be announced during the DSCI-NASSCOM Annual Information Security Summit at New Delhi in December 2017.
  • While there will be only one winner, shortlisted finalists will also be honored.

Mr Behera was appointed to the Indian Police Service in 1985 and is a part of the Kerala cadre. He started his career as an ASP, in Kerala and also served as DCP in Kochi and Commissioner of Police in Thiruvananthapuram. He was then appointed as SP and later DIG in the Central Bureau of Investigation. He was involved in the investigation of sensitive cases such as the Graham Staines murder case, Purulia arms drop case, Mumbai serial blast case, etc. In 2009, he joined the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and was one of the founder members. At the NIA, he headed the Terror Financing and Fake Currency specialized cell of the NIA. Prior to being appointed as the DGP of Kerala, he served as Director, Kerala Fire & Rescue Services. He was a part of the team that traveled to the United States to question David Headley in 2010.

 

Additional Director General of Police, Karnataka

Mr. Pratap Reddy is a distinguished officer of Karnataka Cadre belonging to the elite Indian Police Service (1991 batch). He has a deep understanding of Information & Communication Technology and strategic experience in handling cyber security initiatives of Government and IT industry body.

Mr Pratap Reddy is currently working as Additional Director General of Police , Criminal Investigation Department, Karntaka State Police. Prior to this, he was Additional Commisisoner of Police, Bangalore City Police and also served as IGP, Internal Security Division, Karnataka.

Earlier, Mr. Reddy was Secretary to Home Department, Government of Karnataka and has also served as Senior Director, Cyber Security, NASSCOM where he was responsible for implementation of the Cyber Security Initiatives of NASSCOM which aims at capacity building in various Government Departments including Law Enforcement and Prosecution in handling cybercrime investigation.

 

Advocate, Supreme Court of India

He is a lawyer practising in the Supreme Court of India and High Courts, specialising in the field of information technology, data protection, privacy and cyber crimes. He advises the Government of India and various State Governments on Information Technology and E-governance laws and practices. He has been nominated by the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India in its Expert Committee to review the Information Technology Act, 2000

The Indian industry is riding high on the wave of entrepreneurial traction in a niche domain of cyber security and security product development with over 50 security product companies emerging in the last few years. Though, currently at a nascent stage, these organizations are enjoying robust sales traction and moving forward with the concern of being recognized in the global world.

In order to provide impetus to the growth of Indian cyber security market, DSCI, is working towards contributing and building a favorable ecosystem for growth-led, sustainable business segments of security product & services companies in the country. Many initiatives and activities have been undertaken by DSCI to encourage indigenous product development, proving platform to the start-ups to connect with the key stakeholders of the ecosystem. With an intent to provide more impetus to these organizations, DSCI has launched Excellence awards for Product companies, which is comprised of two categories ‘Security Product Company of the Year’ and ‘Most Innovative Product of the Year (Innovation Box)’.

The objective of this initiative is to recognize, honor and reward organizations who come up with innovative product ideas, and emerging companies to address real risks, build resilience, increase trustworthiness and create a conducive environment for businesses; thus, enabling organizations harness security as a lever for business growth.

The initiative is an attempt to provide support to product companies in various aspects by bringing these new players nearer to established security leaders, innovators other stakeholders on a common platform for idea sharing, guidance and collaboration.

He provides strategic direction and delivers Cyber Security, Information Risk and Security Governance at Axis Bank, including eight international branches. In a career spanning nineteen years, Jain had played key roles in blue chip organizations such as Barclays Bank, Nomura India, AXA Business Services, Bank of America and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Jain has consistently been specializing in Technology Risk and Information Risk for about two decades for regional and global levels at various multinational banks and financial institutions. His areas of expertise and core competencies include Business Process Controls, Applications Risks, Technology Infrastructure Risks, Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Risks, Technology Audits, Identity & Access Management Controls, Technology Forensics and Investigations.

Prior to joining Axis Bank, Jain served as the Head of India and Emerging Markets, Technology Risk and Information Risk, at Barclays where he established Technology Risk Management function, Information Risk Management function and Internal Controls function for the Retail and Commercial bank in India. He later managed Information Risk across 14 Emerging Market countries including Barclays Africa and looked after the Technology Risk function for India region for Corporate Bank, Investment Bank and Wealth business in India.

Jain is a CISA and PDGM in Information Systems & Finance. He is a regular speaker at ISACA conferences.

 

Co-Founder IAN & Founding Partner IAN Fund

Recognized both globally & nationally as a key player in the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem for helping co-found many entrepreneur focused organisations. She has been an active Angel investor and a successful entrepreneur with M&A as well as listing experience. Today she mentors start- ups, angel investors and drives policy making for seed / angel investing in the country.

  • Co-Founder & President, Indian Angel Network (IAN): Built India’s First & World’s Largest angel investor network – awarded the "Best Angel Investing Platform". Within a decade, IAN has become a global network with over 450 investors from 10 countries, comprising a portfolio of over 130 companies across 17 sectors based in 7 countries. She operationalised IAN’s international operations in London (launched by Prime Minister Cameron) – making it the only angel group in the world to set up operations outside of its home country. She was a key enabler in in the creation of Lankan Angel Network in Sri Lanka.
  • Executive Director, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE), Delhi chapter: As the first ED of TIE Delhi, she operationalised the chapter, and put it on a sound footing. Today, TIE Delhi is the best performing chapter amongst all TIE chapters worldwide on a consistent basis, for the last 5 years. TIE is the world’s largest organization focused on entrepreneurship with over 16,000 members across 60+ chapters from 14 countries.
  • Co-Founder IAN Incubator : In partnership with the Indian Government, she co-founded a unique model of an incubator, which leverages over 400 mentors to provide mentoring & domain expertise to young innovative companies to set them on the path of high growth ventures, creating a successful cohort of companies raising monies and building profitable businesses.
  • Executive Director, Indian Venture Capital Association (IVCA): Operationalised India’s oldest VC & PE organisation which plays a leading role in India’s VC / Private equity ecosystem in India including policy intervention with the government.
  • Member of various Government committees such as Committee of Telecom Centre of Excellence, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Ministry of Finance, SEBI etc.
  • Member, Governing Council of EM3 Services, a nation building venture, seeking to create a paradigm shift in the Indian agricultural sector by improving productivity.
  • Non-Executive Director on the board of Omaxe Ltd, one of India’s leading ‘publicly listed’ real estate development companies.

In her corporate avatar at Xansa India, (Xansa was a US$800mn company listed on LSE before being acquired by Steria), she led several key functions. She set up the US operations for the company creating a profitable US$25mn business in less than 2 years. She was a key member of the corporate strategy and M&A team as the Company went public, forged joint ventures and merger.

A graduate with English Honours, Padmaja then completed her MBA as well as Chartered Accountancy (intermediate). She was recently awarded the ‘Women of the Decade in Investment Banking’ by the Women Economic Forum.

 

Department of Aerospace Engineering and Supercomputer Education and Research Centre, Indian Institute of Science (IISc)

Prof. Balakrishnan was leading DSCI as Chairman since August 30, 2010 till 31st March,2015. Currently a Professor at the Department of Aerospace Engineering and at the Supercomputer Education and Research Centre, Indian Institute of Science (IISc). His areas of research include Numerical Electromagnetics, High Performance Computing and Networks, Polarimetric Radars and Aerospace Electronic Systems, Information Security, Digital Library and Speech Processing. He has more than 200 publications to his credit in international journals and international conferences and reports. Among his many awards and recognitions from India and abroad is the Padmashree, which he received from the President of India in 2002. Professor Balakrishnan is very active in many major Indian and international initiatives in IT planning and information security. He is also Visiting Professor at the Institute for Software Research International, Carnegie Mellon University in the U.S. He is a Fellow of all the major science and engineering academies in India and also a Fellow of TWAS, the third world academy of sciences. He continues to be on DSCI Board as Independent Director.

Awards Process

Nominations for corporate segment in DSCI Excellence Awards 2017 will be online. Consolidation of all nomination forms and other information received from various organizations will be done by DSCI and our process partner (PwC).

The evaluation process for DSCI Excellence Awards 2017 will be as follows:

  • Level I: DSCI and PwC will conduct the first level of screening after receiving nominations based on the quality and completeness of the responses provided in the respective nomination forms.
  • Level II: DSCI and PwC may seek additional information / artefacts from shortlisted nominations and if required, may also conduct interviews and subsequently shortlist three finalists in each category.
  • Level III: The jury will evaluate the finalists and decide the winner in each category
