An alumnus of BIT Ranchi, NITIE, IIT Bombay and the Harvard Business School, Ganesh is a member of the Chairmen’s Council of NASSCOM and Co-Chairs the National Knowledge Council for the Confederation of Indian Industry. A member of the Board of NITIE, Global Talent Track and the Europe Asia Business School, he is spearheading a Skills Transformation initiative across Asia. Ganesh was conferred the Asia Pacific Entrepreneur Award by Enterprise Asia in Nov 2010.
Ganesh is the author of four McGraw Hill Books on Business Process Reengineering and Knowledge Management and other publications on the IT industry and inspired leadership. An Expert in the Net Work Centric, Information and Cyber Warfare, he was instrumental for the approval and setting up of the Army Cyber Group and the First Information Warfare Brigade of the Indian Army. He was the Project Director of Army Strategic Communication Network (ASCON) and is the author of the Defence Communication Network (1995), Tactical Communication System (1996), and ASTROIDS besides a number of regional optical fibre and satellite based networks in some of the most inhospitable terrains in the North and East India. He headed the national study on Cryptography, was a member of the National Committee on spectrum management and Adviser on IT to the state of Madhya Pradesh.
He has worked with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Oil India, and the Planning Commission. He has been an Examiner for the University Grants Commission, on the Court of The Indraprasatha University, member of the Hardware and Human Resource Groups of the IT Task Force and the Advisory Committee of National Disaster Management Authority appointed by the Prime Minister. He was one of the eight members of the committee which formulated the I T Act; 2000.He is a recipient of five National Awards including the highest for Distinguished Service of the Most Exceptional Order.
He also got the Best Engineer Award in 2005 and is the only serving officer to have been awarded the Fellowship of Indian National Academy of Engineering. He has over 400 papers to his credit and has also been
Mr. Ramkumar has completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management from Madras School of Social Work in 1984. He has joined the Board of Directors with effect from February 1, 2009.
Prior to joining ICICI Bank in 2001, Mr. Ramkumar has served companies such as Hindustan Aeronautics, Brookebond Lipton India Limited (now Hindustan Unilever Limited) and ICI India Ltd. His work in these companies has mainly been in the areas of Human Resources Management and Manufacturing.
Leadership Development, Succession Management, building a supply chain for the Bank’s human resources requirements, leveraging technology to innovate, and driving operational excellence for world class service quality, are his passion.
Institute for Finance, Banking & Insurance and ICICI Manipal Academy for Banking & Insurance were conceived and nurtured by him. The partnership Initiatives with SEBI – National Institute for securities management and with NIIT – the NIIT University, were also nurtured by him. He led the CSR project of ICICI Foundation on skilling youth and promoting livelihood. This is done under the ICICI Academy for Skills, which has 21 centers offering 13 skills to 25000 youth per year. Out of 21 centers, 10 centers are exclusively for women.
