Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay

He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay in April 1997, where he is currently a Professor. He was the Head of the Department from January 2012 to January 2015.. He has also served as the Head of IIT Bombay Computer Center during 2008-11. He is currently spearheading IIT Bombay’s efforts in setting Research Park at IIT Bombay. He is the coordinator of Tata Teleservices IIT Bombay Center for Excellence in Telecom where he has initiated many projects in the area of broadband wireless networks. He is also heading National Center of Excellence in Technology for Internal Security. Prof Karandikar is the founding member and Vice Chairman of Telecom Standards Development Society (TSDSI), India’s standards body for telecom setup in 2014.

Dr Karandikar has 5 US patents issued and several patents pending, contributions to IEEE standards, contributed chapters in books and large number of papers in international journals and conferences to his credit. He has supervised 10 PhD, more than 100 Masters and large number of BTech research projects. He has served on the technical program committees of leading international conferences He has also served as technology advisor and consultant to many companies. Dr. Karandikar is a two time recipient of award for excellence in teaching at IIT Bombay- in 2006 and 2011. He is also a recipient of the VASVIK Industrial research award 2010, NASI-Reliance Industries Platinum Jubilee award 2012, Dr Vikram Sarabhai Research award 2010, Prof. S. V. Aiya Memorial Award 2005-06 by SVC Aiya Trust Pune, Prof. K. Srinivasan Award 2005-06 by IETE and Dr PK Patwardhan Technology Development award.

Sandeep Singhal co-founded Nexus Venture Partners (www.nexusvp.com) India’s leading venture capital fund in 2006 along with other successful entrepreneurs with prior investing experience. Nexus has close to $600 million under management and is a leading early stage fund in India. Nexus has an active portfolio of over 50 companies across the technology, consumer services, media, internet and mobile, alternate energy and agribusiness sectors.
Sandeep represents Nexus on the boards of Cloudbyte, ScaleArc, EKA, Mistral, Datagres, Altruist, Suminter India Organics, Dlight Design, Uniken, Sedemac and SLCM.

Prior to Nexus, Sandeep has been an entrepreneur and was Co-founder & CEO of Medusind Solutions, one of the leading healthcare outsourcing companies in India where he is currently a Board member. He was also co-founder and Managing Director of eVentures India, started in 1999 to focus on incubating and investing in early stage Indian start ups. At eVentures, Sandeep invested in CustomerAsset (acquired by Firstsource), Mentorix Solutions (acquired by Lionbridge), Intigma (acquired by Emptoris), and MakeMyTrip (sale to SAIF Partners). He has held senior roles at McKinsey & Company, Digital Equipment and EDA Systems.

Sandeep has an MBA (with Distinction) from The Wharton School with a dual Major in Finance and Marketing, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He is on the Board of TiE Mumbai, and is actively involved with the Entrepreneurs Organization and the Wharton and Stanford India Alumni Associations.

Mr. T.V. Mohandas Pai, Chairperson, Manipal Global Education Services P Ltd. and Co-founder AARIN Capital

Mohan is Chairperson of Manipal Global Education Services P Ltd. He co-founded AARIN Capital to fund companies in Technology, Ecommerce, Health Care and Life Science. He is based out of Bangalore, India.

Mohan actively interfaces with key leadership in Indian governments and regulators to improve the business ecosystem. He was awarded the Padma Shri award by the President of India in 2015, and the Karnataka Rojyotsava Award in 2004.

He served on the Board of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (“SEBI”). He is currently the Chairman of SEBI Primary Markets Advisory Committee (PMAC). Mohan was a Trustee of the International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) Foundation, the body that oversees the International Accounting Standards Board (“IASB”), for six years. He is currently on the Boards of IIT’s – Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad.

Until mid-2011, Mohan was a Member of the Board at Infosys Limited, Bangalore. Mohan joined Infosys in 1994 and was CFO from 1994 to 2006. He was voted ’CFO of the Year’ multiple times.

Mohan has a keen interest in education. In 2000, along with others, he co-founded the Akshaya Patra Foundation, Bangalore – a mid-day meal program for school children. Today, this program feeds over 1.5 million children each day in 8,500+ government schools across nine Indian states aiming to feed 5 million children by 2020. This initiative is the largest mid-day meal program in the world.
Mohan holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bangalore, a bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) from Bangalore University and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Mr. Patrick Kishore, Chief Operating Officer, Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology

Presently Chief Operating Officer of IDRBT Services SBU since September 2011, responsible for the operations of INFINET, the telecom network for the Indian financial institutions, SFMS, the secure financial messaging system, IBCC, the Indian Banks Community Cloud, as well as the issue of Digital Certificates for payment systems.

Worked for 37 years in banking and IT in State Bank of India, the last assignment as the Chief Information Security Officer for the SBI Group. During the time, was a member of the RBI Gopalakrishna Committee that defined the standards for security in electronic banking in India.

Was IT Advisor to Tamilnad Mercantile Bank for three months (2011) during which the IT Strategy and Operational roadmap was prepared, including recruitment of suitable professionals for the bank.

Convener of the CISO Forum of Indian banking industry and, the Advisory Council of Indian Banking Technology Consortium (IBTC).

Member of the Joint Working Group on Cyber Security of National Security Council Secretariat.Chairman of BIS committee on ISO standards for BFSI sector, representing India on ISO TC-68 Member of ISO20022 Registration Management Group Set up the IB-CART (Indian Banks-Centre for Analysis of Risks and Threats), the security Information sharing system for banks.
