Karnataka Cyber Youth Initiative

As one of India’s most digitally progressive states, Karnataka is home to a vast population of connected youth navigating the internet daily for education, gaming, and communication. The state has taken commendable steps toward strengthening elementary and technical education, while also placing a strong emphasis on vocational and digital skills in line with the SDGs. These efforts position Karnataka as a strategic partner in shaping the future of cyber‑aware students.

Secondary research on digital behaviour and challenges among school students pointed to critical concerns—such as a high prevalence of cyberbullying and online harassment, increased vulnerability to unsafe gaming environments, and limited awareness of social engineering threats like phishing and smishing. Compounding this was the low reporting of cyber incidents, driven by a lack of understanding of legal protections and hesitation to speak up. These insights underlined the urgent need to integrate cybersecurity education into Karnataka’s school ecosystem.

This makes “Cyber for Youth” both timely and essential in preparing students and educators to engage safely and responsibly in the digital world.
