Overview

Data Security Council of India is committed to making the cyberspace safe, secure and trusted and to further the notion and realize the future of a cyber-secure and privacy-focused nation, the organization finds it imperative to apprise the generation-next with guidance that equips them as able drivers of data protection.

The current initiatives under the vision include CyberShikshaa and Cyber Vaahini, which cater to empowering women from tier-II and tier-III cities by providing training and placement support, and Cyber for YOUth and Cyber Sainik empower school children from grade 6 to 12 by raising their awareness about the digital space. All training programs are imparted without any incurred fee to beneficiaries and are wholly supported by partners.

CyberShikshaa

DSCI, in partnership with Microsoft and with support from Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) of the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY), started CyberShikshaa in September 2018. The initiative aims to train and support women from tier-II, tier-III cities as well as rural areas, and align a career path for them in the cybersecurity industry.

Programs under CyberShikshaa

  • Cyber Security Training Program: A 4-month, full-time program for women engineering graduates aged 21–27, with a family income below ₹7 LPA
  • Privacy Module for Women on Break: A week-long training program for women professionals with 3–4 years of experience, returning to work after a minimum 6-month career break
  • CyberShikshaa for BFSI: A 6-month residential training program in the BFSI sector for women aged 21–27, with no prior work experience
  • CyberShikshaa for AI/ML: A 4-month training program in AI/ML for women engineering graduates (B. Tech/B.E.) aged 21–27
  • CyberShikshaa Fundamentals: An online, self-paced learning program for students aged 19–24, offering an introduction to cybersecurity as a career option

Cyber Vaahini

Started by Kyndryl Foundation and DSCI in June 2024, Cyber Vaahini empowers women engineering graduates from tier-II and tier-III cities with in-demand cybersecurity skills. It offers a four-month, partner-funded training course that addresses key cybersecurity aspects across 8 modules. It also helps deserving young women with industry-specific cybersecurity skillsets and improves their chances of employability.

Cyber for YOUth

Started in 2023, the pioneering initiative of Cyber for YOUth aims to empower students across grades 6 to 12 with critical cyber literacy skills in the age of increasing technological dependence. The program aids schools with practical guides and supports the infrastructure to teach cybersecurity preparedness for building resilience and cyber safety hygiene.

  • SISA | 2023
    Expanded cyber safety outreach in Karnataka. The program was implemented across four schools in Mysuru, Mangaluru, and Bengaluru, reaching 700+ beneficiaries.
  • The British High Commission, New Delhi | 2024
    Promoted digital safety essentials amongst students in Madhya Pradesh. The program outreached to fifteen schools across Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Chhatarpur covering 4,100+ beneficiaries.
  • PayU | 2025
    Promoted cyber safety among students in rural Bangalore. The program outreached to three schools covering 450+ beneficiaries.
  • CTBC Bank | 2025
    Imparted digital literacy and safety fundamentals to students in Delhi. The program outreached to three schools covering 2000+ beneficiaries.

Cyber Sainik

Started in 2024, the initiative in partnership with Kyndryl aims to empower 6th to 12th grade students with critical cyber literacy skills delivered in the medium of their regional language. The program aids schools, educators and students alike with practical guides and industry relevant awareness materials to teach cybersecurity preparedness for building resilience and improving their cyber safety hygiene.

DSCI, a not-for-profit Section 8 company, is eligible to accept CSR grants and donations. DSCI is registered under Ministry of Corporate Affairs and possesses CSR 1 Certificate, FCRA Certificate and 80G & 12A Certificates.
