On February 10, 2026, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) introduced the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Amendment Rules, 2026. These rules require intermediaries providing synthetically generated information (SGI) tools to label such content clearly and remove it in cases of misuse, following a public consultation draft from October 2025.
