About CSIC

 

The Cyber Security Innovation Challenge (CSIC) is a premier national-level innovation initiative under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project Phase-III of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Designed to foster innovation and problem-solving in cyber security, CSIC provides a platform for India's undergraduate and postgraduate students to develop solutions to complex, real-world cyber security challenges. Spearheaded by the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) as the designated Nodal Agency for Ideation & Innovation, the initiative bridges academic excellence with critical national security priorities.

Building on the vision and success of the previous edition, CSIC 2.0 is being introduced to expand the scale and ambition of the program, drive deeper nationwide participation, and encourage the next generation of cyber innovators to address emerging cyber security challenges.

Campus Ambassador Program

 

The Campus Ambassador Program is designed as a platform as part of the CSIC framework to encourage participation from students whose association as Campus Ambassadors from academic institutions across India will help promote and manage CSIC participation on their campuses. The program offers the opportunity to selected campus ambassadors to organize awareness sessions, guide peers through registration, and coordinate with the Data Security Council of India.

This makes campus ambassadors an integral part of building India's next generation of cyber security innovators.

To become a Campus Ambassador for CSIC 2.0, applicants must meet the following criteria. This is your chance to represent your institution on a national stage.

Privacy Notice - CSIC 2.0 Campus Ambassador Program

The Data Security Council of India (DSCI), functioning as the designated Nodal Agency for the Ideation & Innovation component under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project Phase-III (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India), serves as the Data Fiduciary for the collection and processing of personal data provided herein. The information submitted through this form is collected primarily for the onboarding, engagement, and administration of the Campus Ambassador Program for the Cyber Security Innovation Challenge (CSIC 2.0). Furthermore, the collected details will be retained and utilized to coordinate broader ISEA Phase-III outreach initiatives, including technical knowledge sharing, awareness campaigns, bootcamps, workshops, and future national-level innovation challenges and hackathons.

The Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project Phase-III is an approved national program under the aegis of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. The project is structured across key national verticals aimed at developing human resources in information security: generating certified cybersecurity professionals (CISOs), fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among UG/PG students through practical problem solving, strengthening advanced academic research & education, and proliferating mass cyber hygiene & awareness across the country.

1. Personal Data We Collect, Purpose of Processing and Lawful Basis At registration for the Campus Ambassador Program, we collect the following personal information:

This information is collected directly from you during the registration process. Standard system usage data may also be collected if required for platform security and maintenance.

2. Purposes for Which We Use Your Data. We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To identify, evaluate, and onboard Campus Ambassadors for the CSIC 2.0.
  • To enable direct communication with selected ambassadors for coordination and outreach activities.
  • To share updates and information about DSCI events and challenges.
  • To maintain program security and comply with applicable law.

We will not use your data for any other purpose without a separate specific consent.

3. Data Sharing. Your personal data may be accessed and processed by the National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) team at DSCI solely for purposes related to the selection, onboarding, coordination, and management of Campus Ambassadors.

Your personal data will not be shared with any other government organization or external third party, except where such disclosure is required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal obligations.

DSCI does not sell, rent, or otherwise commercially share your personal data with third parties.

4. Your Rights. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA), you have the right to:

  • Access a summary of your personal data and information about how it is being processed.
  • Correct, update, or complete any inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request erasure of your data when it is no longer necessary for the stated purposes.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Nominate a representative to exercise your rights on your behalf.
  • Raise a grievance or lodge a complaint with the respective team at DSCI.
  • Approach the Data Protection Board of India if your grievance remains unresolved.

5. Withdrawal of Consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to csic[at]dsci[dot]in. Withdrawal of consent will stop further processing of your data for the Campus Ambassador Program. However, withdrawal does not affect any processing that has already been completed based on your earlier consent.

6. Data Retention. Your personal data will be retained until 1st April 2029 for the Campus Ambassador Program as may be required for communication, coordination, or legal compliance. After this period, your data will be securely deleted.
