DSCI Best Practices Meet 2013 - BPM13

Ability of cyber threats to cause significant impact to the security of individual, society, business and nation has been increasingly proven, with revelation of many organized and targeted attacks in the recent past. Present day attacks have been found to embed a combination of zero-day vulnerabilities. They are becoming increasingly complex with multi-vector and multi-channel delivery techniques. The innovation, techniques and skills that are deployed to develop and launch such attacks surpass most contemporary defense capabilities. This triggers many debates around the ramification of the attacks to the health of national and global cyber space. On the one hand, the security profession is grappling with the challenges of advanced persistent threats; on the other hand, cyber security is largely being associated with national security. The possibility of using cyber space for military purposes, damaging the strategic and intellectual capabilities and executing cross-border criminal activities, makes cyber security an emerging area in diplomatic engagements with other nations.

DSCI Best Practices Meet, organized annually, focuses on highlighting emerging and relevant themes for the security community. This year, BPM focuses on cyber security. Cyber security challenges demand a new set of strategies that are forward leaning, to address complex dynamics of changing threat landscape.

Join us on July 12th, 2013, in Chennai, as we try to understand the attributes of the changing dynamics of threat landscape, demystify nature of attacks, evaluate defense architectures to counter advanced persistent threats and identify capabilities for forward leaning defense, with eminent speakers and panelist from the security community. BPM’13 will also cover the policy issues pertaining to national cyber security and health of cyber space affecting the world in a separate track.

BPM 2013 expands the scope and opportunities for deliberations, engagements and discussions covering specifics as well as promising to bring forward issues of broader contours. It promises rich delivery of content, very high level of engagement and in-depth deliberations and discussions through multiple parallel sessions and panels.

BPM 2013, this year, we will also feature a ‘Technical Paper Contest’, organized in partnership with IEEE India Council, to elevate richness of content and engage broader community of professionals and academia.
