NASSCOM-DSCI Annual Information Security Summit 2011

In the recent months, the world has witnessed cyber attacks on high-profile targets like Pentagon, IMF, Epsilon, Citigroup, websites of CIA and CBI, among many others. Needless to say, these attacks have again brought into focus the need for cyber security and data security in a renewed way. It is the individuals and organizations – both in corporate and e-Governance – which, while protecting their own data, raise the level of cyber security.

It is only through implementation of best practices that organizations can achieve higher levels of security. This has been re-validated by DSCI Surveys and Excellence Awards 2011, where organizations with strategic, proactive and innovative security efforts have stood out.

As always, NASSCOM-DSCI Annual Information Security Summit will address the current security challenges against the backdrop of these high profile attacks. It will provide a pioneering platform for establishing the significance of security and privacy within national and organizational ecosystem where the providers of solutions, users of solutions, and the thought leaders and regulators come together to contribute to the future of data security.

The Summit will feature the announcement of Indian Cyber Cop Award which will recognize, reward and honour a police officer who has done the most outstanding investigation in solving a cyber crime.

The issue of Cyber Crimes is emerging as a big challenge for Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) around the world and, India is no exception. With its growing economy, huge IT industry, increasing rollout of e-Governance and online applications and burgeoning tech-savvy generation of citizens – all are very attractive for organized cyber criminals to target India and its citizens. Some of the LEAs in India have taken proactive steps to build capacities to address the investigation needs of cyber crime. DSCI operates 8 cyber Labs across the country with the help of DIT and Industry support and have so far trained 9000 police officers. DSCI has also developed a ‘Cyber Crime Investigation Manual’ to help and guide the police officers in cyber crime investigations using cyber forensic tools and standard operating procedures. In order to encourage the police officers who have put in extra efforts to learn cyber forensics to solve cyber crimes.

The details of the award are available at: India Cyber Cop Award

The Summit will provide security leadership in the country, even as it will be the meeting place for those who seek or provide security solutions. It will provide an opportunity to connect with delegates, speakers, thought leaders and service providers from various industry verticals like Banks, Telecom, IT/BPO, Manufacturing, Energy etc. The Summit will feature panel discussions, round tables, solutions demos, product launches, case studies and technical trainings. In addition to these, there will be an Exhibition where solution providers will showcase their offerings.

This year, the focus is on the different approaches for dealing with cyber security and national security; data centric security, and challenges in mobile and cloud computing. Through discussion on these topics, the Summit aims to provide awareness on new challenges, threats and vulnerabilities; strategic direction and practical guidance; introduction to new approaches & practices and insights into market development and movements.
