The Kolkata Cyber Lab is the DSCI’s Eighth Cyber lab and Eastern India’s first Cyber lab. The Lab was inaugurated by Shri. Partha Chatterjee – Hon’ble Minister of commerce & Industries, public enterprise, industrial Reconstruction, I.T. & Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of West Bengal in the presence of Dr. Gulshan Rai, DG-CERT-In, Sri Pachananda, CP, Kolkata Police, Sri Som Mittal, President , NASSCOM & Sri Pratap Reddy Sr. Director, NASSCOM on 10th August 2011.
The lab is stationed in the Lal Bazaar Police Headquarters and is working very closely with the Cyber Crime Police Station, Kolkata. This lab is setup under the grants from the DeitY and is equipped with latest forensics equipment.
Since inception, Kolkata cyber lab has been able to successfully equip the Kolkata Police in fighting cybercrimes by providing necessary training and technological assistance in handling cybercrime investigation. During this year, Kolkata cyber lab has trained over 500 officers which include police officers of various ranks and designations. It has also been able to successfully impart cybercrimes awareness among various sections of the society by organizing various seminars/workshops among some of the leading schools in Kolkata.
