DSCI Assessment Framework (DAF)
DSCI released its Security Framework (DSF©) & Privacy Framework (DPF©) in 2010. Some organizations, since then, have adopted these frameworks entirely & few have referred to these while their designing their privacy and security programs. Need for assessment frameworks, that could help gauge organizational security and privacy practices, was realized which further led to development of DSCI Assessment Framework-Security (DAF-S)© & DSCI Assessment Framework-Privacy (DAF-P)©
DSCI had set up the two Advisory groups, Privacy Assessment Advisory Group (PAAG) & Security Assessment Advisory Group (SAAG) to seek guidance for development of appropriate assessment frameworks that would help organizations identify the gaps, and climb up the maturity ladder. Members of these Advisory Group provided their inputs and feedback, which helped finalize the approach to develop the Assessment Frameworks. DSCI has adopted two distinct approaches for Privacy Assessment – one that is based on DPF© and helps assess organizational competence in privacy and the other one that focuses on assessment based on global privacy principles. The security assessment framework is primarliy based on DSF© and focuses on assessment resulting in maturity within each discipline.
DSCI Assessment Framework-Privacy (DAF-P)© & DSCI Assessment Framework-Security (DAF-S)© have been released at NASSCOM-DSCI Annual Information Security Summit 2012 by Mr. N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, NASSCOM and CEO, TCS
